Our client is seeking a SENIOR REGIONAL GEOPHYSICIST to work within their facilities located in RIO DE JANEIRO.

 
Main Responsibility:
 
The Regional Staff Geophysicist in the Latin America Regional Team is responsible for conducting regional studies across play and geographic boundaries in the Atlantic and Equatorial margins of South America. The goal is to unlock new play opportunities and continuously rejuvenate the company’s play knowledge and exploration portfolio. Main focus will be on the pre-salt play in deep water Brazil, currently one of the “hottest” exploration plays globally, but also may involve new emerging deepwater plays along the Central Atlantic margin in the Guyanas and offshore Colombia and Uruguay. 

The primary activities for the Senior Regional Geophysicist are:
 
·         Provide sound regional geophysical frameworks for generating and evaluating play prospectivity;
·         Proactively identify/generate new material opportunities;
·         Participate in proposing activities (eg seismic acquisition and re-processing, acreage acquisition, divestiture, etc.) appropriate for exploration investments in existing venture areas;
·         Derive reliable volumes, risk assessments, & critical subsurface parameters for defined plays;
·         Technical lead role in coordinating & delivering projects as needed;
·         Proactively seek and evaluate new technologies and work-flows that could unlock new plays and/or enhance existing ones.
·         The Regional Geophysicist will also be responsible for coordinating & delivering projects as needed, as well as to mentor, motivate and develop junior geoscientists in the Latin America Exploration and other technical teams in Brazil.
 
Accountabilities:

·         Maintain Goal Zero in the office;
·         Generate, screen, develop/mature new viable exploration play concepts and opportunities in the Latin America region; 
·         Integrate all relevant data for technically sound, timely assessments & recommendations;
·         Develop regional subsurface hydrocarbon systems models, propose data acquisition and new technology applications to test concepts;
·         Participate in ever-green play ranking, assessments of remaining potential and portfolio definition;
·         Participate in license rounds and/or acreage acquisitions;
·         Generate, characterize plays through basin to prospect scale framework interpretations, maps, structural-stratigraphic cross sections and correlations;
·         Lead regional 3D/2D seismic mapping & interpretations, well to seismic correlation, depth conversion, visualization & data management;
·         Stay abreast of relevant technology developments within and outside the company. Test and apply new technologies and work-flows to enhance basin/play assessments;
·         Proactively use GIS for mapping, maintain appropriate data management procedures for archiving & retrieval;
·         Lead role in preparing and delivering project reviews, status reports to stakeholders, and final project results;
·         Proactive staff coaching and mentoring, fostering a team-focused environment.
