Our client, a Major Operator, is seeking a SENIOR WELL DESIGN ENGINEER to work within their facilities located in RIO DE JANEIRO.

Required:

• Solid experience in the O&G upstream sector in offshore drilling operations, evaluation, completions or intervention.
• Offshore field experience.
• Experience in Deepwater drilling;
• Fluent English
• Bachelor Degree in Engineering.

General Responsibilities

·         Provide well construction design of deep water well drilling with primary consideration of technical integrity specifically addressing the deep water pressure management issues. 

·         As the member of the well construction design team Plan, control, manage and coordinate the drilling design to comply with acceptable standards with due consideration for complexity of deep water well drilling and well control during drilling.

Well Design Responsibilities:

• Appraise conceptual designs from a technical and a cost perspective to select and define final specification
• Produce conceptual drilling and associated work designs, developing the design criteria set out by subsurface prospect data sheets
• Write the drilling Basis of Design and engage Peer Review / Assist for each work program
• Identify and highlight any project risk, long lead items and order any necessary equipment
• Co-ordinate with the Senior Completions Engineer to ensure compatibility in the well design
• Produce probabilistic cost estimates for inclusion and production of the well AFE
• Participate in work program Hazid's, Hazop's and Risk Assessments
• Visit rig site during operations for audits / pre-spuds / general visit
• Follow company Management of change procedures and policies.

Well Operations Responsibilities:

• Implement safe, environmentally sound and efficient well operations.
• Prepare Risk Analysis and mitigation plans are as appropriate.
• Recommend implementation of new techniques and practices.
• Follow up on significant problems & make recommendations for improvement.
• Document Lessons Learned and utilize in future plans.
• Track and analyze operational performance.
• Assist the Cost Analyst in tracking costs, and well planned vs actual schedule on a daily basis
• Actively monitor costs performance during the well operations including completion.
• Provide daily and weekly project status reports and information for management.
• Provide guidance and instructions to the selected service companies.
• Assist the Lead Drilling Engineer and Drilling Superintendent in the coordination of offshore requirements and day-to-day events.
• Perform Contract Administration as required.
